Now I’m your first guy to be in favor of new development projects that are transit friendly and encourage people to minimize their use of cars.  But here’s an article about a man without any real estate background who thinks that he can stick 1,000 housing units without parking spaces up on a remote hill in Hayward.  I hate to say it’s a stupid idea, but it’s a stupid idea.  To create an urban environment in a suburb (let alone a piece of land that is on the fringes of development), you must place the project in a location that isn’t so remote (oh, I don’t know – maybe  a bit closer than 1.5 miles to a BART station).  Hey, I’m happy someone is thinking about this kind of development, though…
